Samsung Aims to Catch Up With Rival Nokia

Samsung’s newly elected head of telecom, Choi Gee-sung, has vowed to attack Nokia’s market dominance. Currently the 3rd most productive cell phone manufacturer, Samsung is committed to gaining significant market share over the next 12 months. By flooding the market with low-end handsets Samsung’s chief hopes to corner emerging markets by offering cheap alternatives to Nokia’s budget handsets. No comment yet from Nokia, but seeing as they just posted record profit margins I can’t imagine they’re running and screaming through the streets of Helsinki….at least not yet.
