We brought you the FCC documents, the phones specs, and even told you about Sprint lowering music downloads to 99 cents. We finally have it in our hands. After using the device for a few days, it’s certainly one of the coolest concepts in phones I’ve seen in some time. It’s synonymous with, for lack of a better term, a mullet, business in the front and party in the back. The details about the external battery case were sketchy, but it works really well. It’s a leather type case which holds a second battery that is used while the phone in the case, changing the talk time from 2.5 hours to 6.3. Neither the internal nor external battery are replaceable. The music side works with a touch pad that is similar to the iPod, but not as polished. You can slide your finger in one direction or another to move around on screen, but not spinning in circles like an iPod.

All in all, it’s a really cool design for the phone. Finally something original coming from cell phone makers. The Sprint UpStage is scheduled to be released this month for $149 with 2 year contract.
