Firefox coop beta released

Social networking is a phenomenon of epic proportions, with sites such as Facebook and MySpace accounting for a large percentage of all internet traffic worldwide. Piggybacking on this, Mozilla has begun working on a method of incorporating social networking into their popular Firefox browser. The current beta edition of the software, dubbed Co-op, is simply configured as a Firefox plugin, and only allows users to mine contacts from their Facebook accounts. Despite the limited scope, at least for the time being, the plugin shows signs of promise, dumping your Facebook profiles into the browser’s sidebar, allowing you to interact with your friends by means of photos, url’s, wall posts, and more. If this kind of thing gets you foaming at the mouth, keep checking the Mozilla development page, as future editions will certainly increase functionality.
