Sony is planning on rolling out OLED TV’s by the end of the year. The first TV will only be 11 inches wide, but ultra thin at only 3 millimeters (0.12 inches) thick. Costs are expected to be a "few times” the price of current flat panels. For those who don’t already know, the O in OLED stands for organic, meaning a limited lifetime. Right now estimates range from 5,000 to 20,000 hours, which is considerably lower then even plasma screens. The display on an OLED far surpasses the quality of traditional LED’s, as the pixels can emit light. Look for them later this year, but getting your hands on one might be a bit difficult, as Sony is only able to produce 1,000 per month.

Sony is also showing off some OLED computer monitors. The first is only 9 millimeters thin and offers 1080p. The second at only 3mm thick, displays 1024X600, a resolution that seems fit for a laptop. No word on when these will be available to the public.
