With handset makers including LG and Samsung leading in the mobile video content game, Motorola has yet again, found itself left in the proverbial dust. In a move that seems geared to gaining some traction in this ever-growing market, the giant has agreed to purchase digital video powerhouse Terayon for $140 million. Terayon is a company that specializes in transitioning companies from the dark ages into the digital video world, setting up powerful infrastructures that can support mass content deployment, as well as developing mobile video hardware. The question remains, given Moto’s reluctance to push the envelope and innovate much after their RAZR phone, is this a bit too little, a bit too late?
