Technological progress is an amazing thing, furnishing consumers with a vast array of products that were unimaginable let’s say, 5 or 10 years ago. Every once in a while an invention comes along that seems unimaginable now. The Wi-Aquarium falls into this category. Developed by the Arab Academy for Art and Science, this one-off Aquarium takes pet fish into the 21st century, though we wonder if that springboard of progress might be a bit lost on the fish themselves. Completely automated, the aquarium connects to your LAN via a wireless card, controlling feeding, water temperature, and filter status automatically. The tank features an always-on webcam that projects a feed of your little fishies, and even sends out a daily email alerting you to any illness or abnormal behavior. It seems to us that this kinda takes the fun out of actually owning and caring for a pet, but whatever, er, floats your boat.
