Although OS updates always create havoc for software developers, Vista seems to be having more than its fair share of compatibility issues with software and drivers that were previously functional on XP. iPod users have had a rough one, with Apple taking its sweet time to port iTunes to the new platform. In addition to a variety of issues regarding iPod use. Microsoft seems to have finally killed the worst of the problems, announcing that they have developed a fix for a glitch that was causing data corruption and missing files when users attempted to eject their iPods. The issue did not occur when ejecting the device through the iTunes interface, but rather when using the ironically named "Safely Remove Hardware" feature of the operating system. Microsoft had released a patch that claimed to fix the issue on March 27, but further problems rendered the initial update useless. If you’re a iPod toting Vista user, you might want to head over to Microsoft’s site and install the patch, unless you really enjoy the process of copying your music collection every time you connect to your desktop.
