In a move that seems to indicate that RIM cares as little about the "special edition" Red Pearl as the rest of us, Rogers has released the device with almost no fanfare. It showed up on the carrier’s website sometime over the last 3 weeks, with no apparent press release. All announcements aside, the Red Pearl is currently available for an eye-gouging $249 with a 3 year contract. What is it with Canadians and extended contracts? The U.S. standard 2 years seems like punishment enough. The device has the usual assortment of features, including a 1.3 megapixel camera, media player, and the not-so-new signature trackball. If you’re a Canadian resident and feel like taking the plunge, head on over to the Rogers site for some Red Pearl action.

Thanks James!
