Asus locks down P526 specs

Asus has just finalized the spec sheet for their upcoming P526 handset, and it looks to be one heck of a phone. Features include a 2.6" touchscreen, Windows Mobile 6 Professional, integrated GPS, 128 MB of flash memory, 2 megapixel camera, and a now standard microSD slot. The P526 will also include Asus’ proprietary Remote Presenter suite that allows for control of PowerPoint presentations from the phone’s touchscreen interface. It also includes robust data encryption software, keeping your darkest secrets safe from prying eyes. The weakest link looks to be a quad band GSM/GPRS/EDGE radio, with no available support for existing 3G bands. The handset also has a simple numeric keypad, with no QWERTY support to be found. The omission of HSPDA/UMTS support is really a deal breaker for an otherwise impressive phone. Nice try, Asus, but you may have missed the mark here. No official release date has been set, but expect it to show up at home and abroad sometime in the near future.
