Nothing screams American like a good old fashioned baseball game, and nothing shouts "American consumerism!" like a healthy obsession with technological devices. Attempting to capitalize on the marriage of these two seemingly disparate factions, the Houston Astros have introduced a new geek friendly feature into the Astro’s stadium. The sports complex now features designated Bluetooth zones. When fans enter these areas, they can immediately turn on the Bluetooth radios of their phones, PDAs, and laptops, to open up access to a wealth of downloadable content. Among the perks offered are photos of your favorite players, audio and video clips of the team in action, ticket offers, and more. All of this is offered free of charge, rewarding your sports & tech chic with a wealth of gratis swag. There’s no info on the type of backend that the stadium has installed, but they must have a pretty robust server in there to handle all of the incoming requests.
