Japanese vending machines offer free drinks

With a catch, of course. Japanese vending machine company Apex, has developed an innovative vending model which offers free drinks and snacks in exchange for watching a 30-second video commercial spot. If this sounds too good to be true, you might be on to something, as your average 30 second Japanese commercial spot is a psychedelic, mind bending affair. Even so, a free Coca-Cola is a hard thing to pass up, even if the machine pours the soda into an ad-covered cup, forcing you to broadcast your compromised morals to the rest of the world.
