Sony reports ice cold start to 2007

Anyone hoping that Sony’s problems in 2006 were a flash in the pan should go ahead and skip this post. For those of you brave enough to read on, things aren’t looking too good for the massive electronics manufacturer. According to the Associated Press, Sony lost $563 million between the months of January and March of 2007, which is a song worse than the company’s losses during the same period in 2006. Pinpointing lackluster PS3 sales as the main culprit, Sony actually projects a strong finish to a depressing start, estimating that they will double their profits by the end of the current year. Whether or not they can muster the strength for such a dramatic change remains to be seen, but one thing is abundantly clear: The PS3 needs a savage shot in the arm. Price cuts, anyone?
