Microsoft levels virtual playing field

Oh, how our moms would be proud. (Insert "if you cheat, you’re only cheating yourself" advice here.) Looks like Microsoft has decided to officially put the smack down on modded Xbox 360s. For lovers of Xbox Live, you’ve just been granted the ability to frag to your heart’s content, now knowing that the 12-year-old on the other end of cyberspace isn’t rocking a steriod-induced console. With the newly released Halo 3 beta, this is particularly good news for gamers. Microsoft says as "part of our commitment to our members, we do not allow people that we have detected to have modified their console to connect to LIVE. This is an important part of our efforts to try and maintain a fair gaming environment for the large majority of gamers that play by the rules." Ok, so what exactly happens when you try and login using a modifiied gaming machine? "Some consumers that try to login to LIVE who we detect have illegally modified their console will get an error code (Status Code: Z: 8015 – 190D)" Take THAT, cyber-cheater!
