Sony has officially unveiled plans for Playstation 2 firmware 1.80, and it looks packed with goodies, including:

  • Full 1080p upscaling for DVDs (look…those old DVDs aren’t useless afterall!), PS2 and PS1 games
  • PSP Remote Play via internet (no need to curse the previous update that was supposed to include this…this update suppsedly works)
  • DLNA media center connectivity (got a DLNA-enabled PC?  Share your stuff with your PS3)
  • And, the ability to print photos with Epson printers.

This update hits European PS3s on May 24th, with a worldwide release supposedly arriving on or near that date.  *fingers crossed*
