Yeah, it looks like Sony might be trying to revive the PSP brand with a little telecom update. They have teamed up with Europe’s BT Telecom to “transform the PSP gaming device by adding wireless broadband communications functions, including high quality handheld video calls, voice calls and messaging.”  Whoa, that’s hot! While the PSP is still too large to solidly function as a primary handset, the inclusion of wireless broadband technology could elevate the gaming device to an amazing level. There’s no word on specifics of any kind, so we can only speculate wildly until the actual device drops, but suffice to say that this is a pretty exciting development. Could Sony be preparing a multimedia/gaming centric iPhone competitor? Only time will tell, but the impending Apple release has certainly pushed a number of companies to step their game up. Oh what a wonderful time to be a consumer.
