Today, Steve Jobs announced that Apple is releasing its popular browser, Safari 3.0 beta, onto the Windows world. Apple claims it is the fastest browser on the PC and lists HTML rendering benchmarks. IE is 4.6 seconds, FF at 3.7 seconds, Safari at 2.2 seconds (lower number is better). Apple says that Safari on Windows is over twice as fast as IE. Currently in terms of marketshare Internet Explorer has about 78%, Firefox 15%, Safari 5%, others have 2%. Apple is looking to take a bite away from IE and Microsoft by releasing their browser to the Windows masses. This is a free download and available today for any XP Vista, or OS X user.
