When satellite radio first hit the scene, many touted it as being the "Cable TV" of radio. Soon, it would phase out regular radio, rendering only the major networks as the only decent local outlet…much like TV today. While it hasn’t lived up to that bill, sat radio is taking a step in a decent direction by announcing their plans to offer a la carte pricing on services to be determined after the proposed merger of both XM and Sirius. Prices will run from $7/month up to $17/month, with a wide range in between, including many channels that will be offered at a quarter a piece. Will this be enough to save the product? They have a big step to get through first…you know…that whole merger thing.
