While it was announced back in March, Bluetooth 2.1 is finally official. The Bluetooth Special Interest Group has ratified what is referred to as Bluetooth Core Version 2.1 and "Enhanced Data Rate" (EDR). The addition of both should allow for easier pairing, a more consistant user experience when moving from device to device, and (yay!) better battery life. There’s also a future compatibility of NFC, or Near Field Communication, where you can pair two BT devices just by holding them near each other. For all the deets, check the press release after the jump.
