Leave it to MySpace to bring some pain to the mobile social networking world. The uber-site announced today that they will be offering a free version of their popular MySpace Mobile client to users across the USA and UK. How will this compare with some of the carrier-supported versions currently on the market? Well, for starters, this bad boy will be ad-supported. Given MySpace’s predilection to disgusting banner ads and gaudy placement we don’t have high hopes for a terribly classy implementation of mobile advertising. That said, we certainly appreciate the effort, and don’t doubt that this will be a very viable option for those without access to another version. The new MySpace Mobile will allow users to to search the site, send and receive messages, deal with friend requests, and much more. All carriers and most handsets are supported, too.
