Here’s something you don’t see everyday…a CDMA carrier and a GSM carrier holding hands and breaking bread. How sweet. The swap comes as both Dobson Cellular and Rural Cellular are being acquired and absorbed by their larger competition. AT&T will be taking ownership of some Rural Cellular coverage and equipment, all of which currently belongs to Verizon Wireless, in New York, Vermont, Kentucky, and Washington state. In exchange for this, Verizon will take possession of some AT&T licenses, equipment, and coverage in Kentucky, in addition to receiving 10 MHZ of PCS spectrum and an undisclosed sum of cash. And who said rivals don’t play nice…

Thanks, Mike!
