The rumors aren’t rumors anymore peoples. Steve-O chose Super Tuesday to release freshly bloated versions of the devices that everybody loves to hate, or hates to love. Available immediately from the Apple Store, the new iPhone and iPod Touch have each received a substantial storage capacity upgrade. In fact, Apple doubled the size of each. The 16GB iPhone and the 32GB iPod Touch both ring up at a hefty $499 and Apple’s site says they will ship in the next one to three days. Existing versions of each device are still available and their price tags have not been affected. Variety is the spice of life and now you have two sizes of iPhone again and three sizes of iPod Touch to choose from. Whether or not Apple will drop smaller-capacity builds is not yet known. These new higher capacity portables could be quite telling in terms of a time line to the next generation iPhone. Initial rumors of the "iPhone 2" time line probably place its release a bit early considering that the brand new inflated version and the upcoming SDK will surely have to simmer for a while. After all, Apple is hardly known to cannibalize potential sales. Our sincerest sympathy to those of you who picked up an iPhone or iPod Touch for the holidays less than two months ago. Steve loves you!
