It’s ‘out with the old and in with the new’ for BlackBerry fans in the US today as AT&T has finally begun issuing the RIM handset that we first heard about last summer. That’s right, it’s time to ditch that old Pearl you’ve been hanging on to and make room for a shiny new… Pearl. It certainly doesn’t have all of the bells and whistles that other AT&T smartphones might grant you, but the BlackBerry Pearl 8120 is perfect for users who want a compact business messenger with a touch of consumer goodness. Current Pearl owners will be happy to know that the 8120 does indeed come equipped with WiFi, but saddened to learn that GPS has been omitted once again. Highlights beyond the addition of WiFi include a slight bump in camera resolution from 1.3 to 2 megapixels, video recording capabilities and the upgraded web browser. All this can be yours through the AT&T Business Center for just $200 after rebates and two more years of your mobile life. Sweet. Just don’t get too excited because you know the BlackBerry 8110 ain’t far behind.
