If you’ve been waiting for the public release of Qik’s streaming video service for your iPhone, you’re in luck….though there is a serious caveat. The company has launched its mobile video application for all to use, but it’s only available through installer.app running on OS 1.1.4. What this means, effectively, is that the only people that will have access to the awesomeness that is Qik streaming on the iPhone are those folks that have been hiding an iPhone 2G under their mattress for the past month. Anyone that upgraded to 2.0 (read: everyone) and current iPhone 3G owners are SOL. So sad. Unfortunately, Apple doesn’t seem to be moving too quickly towards sanctioning video support for the on-board camera, so hope of an App Store appearance is relatively slim. Walled garden=frustration.
