iPhone 3G Soon to Get Storage Boost and Contract-free Option?

Just because it’s Sunday and you’re busy lugging around cases of Natty Ice and painting your face to pay homage to your team, doesn’t mean we get to stop hunting down rumors. So before you get all crazy with that farmer’s tan you’re still sporting, here are a couple morsels you might be interested in: First off, it looks like the in-store only iPhone 3G activation policy will soon be toast. Yes Apple looks like it may once again be coming to its senses and there is no way it’s going to miss out on the upcoming gift-giving season. That’s right folks, ignore the economy and buy everyone you know an iPhone 3G. Forget the fact that Apple is happy to inconvenience you when its interests are best-served by doing so and head to your local Apple store where employees are reporting an important change. Apparently a fifth option labeled “Home” has mysteriously appeared in EasyPay systems when employees sell iPhone 3Gs. What’s more, and take this with a grain of salt for the time being, we may soon be seeing a lineup refresh and price drop as 8GB models seem to have stopped shipping. Just like last year, shortages are being reported which might signal that Apple is getting ready to bump up to 16 GB / 32 GB at the current 8 GB / 16 GB price points. Aren’t you glad you waited in that line? Now if you’ll excuse us, we just ran out of blue face paint…
