YouTube slowly rolls out new download feature

Good news to the legions of viewers who spend hours each day glued to a computer display watching videos of cats falling asleep – soon the fun won’t have to stop when connectivity drops. That’s right people, it appears as though the YouTube team is in the process of implementing a video download feature. Sure, there are already about 6,000 different ways to download videos from YouTube but none are as fast and simple as a tiny link beneath the player. To start things off, Google is allowing viewers to download a bit of political content but implementation of the new feature is expected to broaden fairly quickly. Good show YouTube, though we’re not sure exactly how this fits into recent efforts to better monetize the service. Oh well, time to go find some cat vids to download.
