Verizon unveils the Samsung Trance

Just as we said in our exclusive post a few weeks ago, Verizon Wireless has just announced that the Samsung Trance will go on sale Friday, April 24th for $49.99 after a $50 mail-in with a two-year contract. For those of you not familiar with the device, the Trance is a mid-range phone geared towards those seeking out a decent MP3 player replacement. As you’ll recall, the Trance packs Bang & Olufsen ICEpower external speakers, 3.5mm headphone jack, 1GB of on-board memory and microSDHC support for a card up to 16GB. The rest of the specs are as follows:

  • 2.1-inch display with 176 x 220 resolution
  • CDMA 1X 800/1900mHz Digital Only
  • 1.3 megapixel camera
  • 1GB of Internal memory dedicated to Music, up to 16GB microSD expansion
  • 3.5mm headset jack
  • Bluetooth
  • Mobile email, mobile web, VZ Navigator, Chaperone Parent and chat capable
  • V CAST music with Rhapsody support
  • Music Player for MP3, WMA & unprotected AAC & unprotected AAC+ Formats
  • One touch access to music and ability to create & manage playlists and to multitask while listening to music
  • Sync music from PC to phone (over the air music downloads are not supported)
  • Text, Picture, and Voice Messaging with threaded messaging feature
  • Tools: Alarm Clock, World Clock, Calculator with Converter, Stop Watch
