Android 2.1 now available for the Sprint HTC Hero

At long last, the much anticipated Android 2.1 update for the Sprint HTC Hero has been released to the public. For those not already rocking a rooted, updated device, this carrier-sanctioned update will bring your handset into the 21st century with Android 2.1, an updated Sense UI, and a few minor bug fixes. If you can stand the wait, the update should be pushed out to your handset in the upcoming days. For those who lack patience, when the new OS finally goes live on Sprint’s website, it can be downloaded and installed manually following the directions on Sprint’s support page.
