Our oh-so-hip Apple source has chimed in once again, letting us know some more details on Apple’s ramp up this past weekend. We have been told that stores sold a whole lot of iPads and iPhones, sending out anywhere from 1,000 to 2,000 (and up) emails to customers who had put their name on the waiting list to come pick up their new gadgets. Apparently some of the Apple systems were down because of so much volume across the country. Even so, since not all customers will come in, and some may have purchased elsewhere, there are usually some reserved leftovers for the store to sell to walk-ins. We have confirmed with a couple Apple stores in the NYC area that they do have iPads in stock (Wi-Fi and 3G models) if you want to come in and try and snag one. They are still sold out of iPhones, however.

Lastly our source let us know that Apple actually stopped those “priority waiting lists” and we have independently confirmed that as well. We are told that the only way to purchase an iPhone 4 or iPad is to either walk in and buy one (if they have stock) or order it online.

Thanks Lindsey S.!
