Angry Birds for Android gets over 1 million downloads in 1 day

There is no denying the Angry Birds phenomenon. Rovio Mobile, the developers behind the multi-platform Angry Birds app, have just announced a staggering stat — over 1 million Android downloads in 1 day. Following yesterdays launch, GetJar had brief outages due to overwhelming traffic. Android users were told: “The page you are looking for is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later”. iOS users have had the one up on their Android counterparts for a while now. However, with these impressive numbers, and given Android’s growing smartphone market-share, there seems to be no stopping the avian juggernauts.

UPDATE: Make that 2 million downloads in 2 days!
