News Corp and Apple to launch iPad-only newspaper

There have been mumblings about this in the past, but The Guardian is now claiming the project is almost ready, and it could even be unveiled later this month. The iPad-only newspaper will be called The Daily and is said to be available exclusively on iPad tablets. It’s price? $0.99/week. There are reportedly over 100 journalists assigned to managing The Daily with them all working out of the 26th floor of the News Corp offices in New York. Rupert Murdoch, CEO of News Corp., has been saying that this is the future of online news content, and that “consumers are willing to pay for high-quality, original content.” On the flip side, Apple engineers have reportedly been working on the launch of The Daily by making sure the technical back end system is in place for a newspaper subscription service.
