Apple will not bring its virtual personal assistant Siri to older devices, a new report claims to confirm. MSComputerVideos founder Michael Steeber on Tuesday posted an email conversation that allegedly took place between “someone who contacted Apple with a bug report” and Apple. In the exchange, a suggestion is posed to Apple asking the company to consider offering Siri to owners of older devices as part of a special paid update. “Siri only works on iPhone 4S and we currently have no plans to support older devices,” Apple’s engineering department reportedly responded. Based on technology from Apple’s Siri acquisition and Nuance Communications, Siri is a sought-after virtual personal assistant service that allows iPhone 4S owners to speak naturally to their devices to trigger commands, get answers to a wide variety of questions, perform web searches and more.
