Ice Cream Sandwich slowly slinks toward double-digit Android adoption

Ice Cream Sandwich may have been billed as Google’s grand unifying version of Android, but so far it is still struggling to crack the 10% threshold among total Android devices in use. The latest numbers released by Google show that Ice Cream Sandwich is being used on just over 7% of all Android devices right now, while assorted versions of Android 2.3 Gingerbread are still being used by a whopping 65% of Android smartphones. Ice Cream Sandwich has steadily improved its Android device share since last month when it accounted for just under 5% of all Android devices. Even so, the slow roll out of Ice Cream Sandwich to current Android devices has been a source of contention between Google and carriers, who have each taken turns blaming one another for delays.
