Following a post earlier in the day showing what the site claimed to be an “iPhone 5 engineering sample,” GottaBeMobile has published images of what it says is an engineering sample for the rumored “iPad mini,” though it may also be a case mold for use during accessory design. The site claims that the case mold reveals a design that is thinner than the current iPad model, and roughly two-thirds the size. The mold also suggests that the upcoming smaller iPad will make use of the same smaller dock connector expected to be utilized in the next-generation iPhone. GottaBeMobile notes that the iPad mini appears to have two speakers as opposed to one, as is the case on the third-generation model. Apple is expected to launch its smaller iPad some time this fall.
