During the company’s earnings call on Thursday, Verizon Wireless’ (VZ) chief financial officer Fran Shammo hinted that Apple’s (AAPL) next-generation iPhone will launch in the fourth quarter this year. As noted by The Verge, when asked what might have held customers back from upgrading their devices during the second quarter, the executive said, “of course there’s always that, uh, rumor mill out there with a new phone coming out there in the fourth quarter, so people may be waiting.” Apple’s next iPhone has been repeatedly rumored for a late September or early October launch.
