As the second week of litigation between Apple (AAPL) and Samsung (005930) kicked off on Monday, the Cupertino-based company presented a new set of evidence to the jury that shows the similarities between the icons used in iOS and in Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface, CNET reported. Through a series of six photographs that show comparisons between the phone, music, contacts, photos, notes and settings icons on each platform, Apple highlighted how Samsung allegedly copied its trademarked icons. “Samsung is also infringing Apple’s icon trademarks by advertising and selling a wide variety of products using confusingly similar icons.” the company argued. “The icons on these products were intentionally designed to look like Apple’s icons and infringe Apple’s trademark rights.” Samsung’s lawyers argued that while the company’s designers were “inspired” by Apple’s products, its handsets are different in many ways.
