Not much surprise here, but for what it’s worth HTC has officially announced the successor to its marginally successful Touch Cruise. Named… wait for it… the HTC Touch Cruise, the new handset sports a slew of new features that brings it up to par with the rest of the manufacturer’s current stable of cutting edge phones. As we revealed to you a little while ago, the Touch Cruise sports the following specs:Size: 102 x 53.5 x 14.5mm Weight: 103 grams Connectivity: WCDMA/HSPA: 900/2100MHz....

Thanks to some excellent work by one of our trusty ninjas, we’ve got an early look at a couple of new handsets that are set to be announced early tomorrow morning on Rogers. The carrier is looking to beef up its line of ruggedized phones, adding both the Samsung Rugby A836 and ZTE Rock F165 to its stable. The Rugby sports 3G data, email/IM clients, HTML browser, and a 1.3 megapixel camera housed within a case built to withstand “dust, shock, vibration, rain, humidity, solar radiation, altitude, an...

Details on this are sketchy at best, but early reports seem to indicate that T-Mobile has begun offering its MyFaves service as a free add-on to existing non-MyFaves rate plans. Users far and wide have seem to be having little trouble getting the package added to existing accounts, but as of yet we haven’t heard a peep from T-Mobile. More than a couple of folks have been successful, however, leading us to believe that this is a an official offering from the big T. Free is always better, and the option t...

Sadly, it looks like the answer to that question is “yes”. According to The Daily Background, an ad recently appeared on Amazon’s Mechanical Turk site looking for folks to fill out positive reviews of Belkin products, regardless of whether or not they had actually used them. In return, reviewers would be compensated to the tune of $.65/review. Sounds….shady, but perhaps the ad was posted by some frenzied Belkin fanboy looking to improve his favorite company’s product ratings, rig...

Are you the proud owner of a second generation iPod Touch that’s been a feeling a bit… left out as of late? Thanks to some recent developments on the part of the industrious iPhone Dev team, you’ll soon be able to jailbreak your device, bringing its hacked-ness up to par with the rest of Apple Touch screen devices. The organization has been alluding to an impending jailbreak for quite some time, but just yesterday released some screen shots giving us a bit more insight into their process. Ap...

…and over 35,000 folks prepare to start searching for a new job. So sad. This latest bit of bad news comes after Circuit City’s lengthy, and apparently fruitless, search for a buyer. The company has been trying to sell its assets for quite some time now. It seems, however, that faced with a ticking clock and an utter lack of interest from outside parties Circuit City has made an agreement with a liquidation firm to get rid of all of its material assets and close shop. The company filed for bankrup...

If you’re one of the many Sprint customers who uses an HTC Touch Diamond on a daily basis, this news is for you. A new ROM for the handset has leaked onto the internets, bringing a host of new features, fixes and upgrades with it. Chief amongst the changes is the inclusion of Mobile Internet Explorer 6, which is a major update to Microsoft’s ailing mobile browser. MIE 6 sports full flash support (!!), as well as a number of other minor changes. Additionally, the new Touch Diamond ROM also includes...

If you can get over the lack of 3G data, coupled with the presence of Windows Mobile, the HTC Touch Viva starts to look more than a little appealing…we suppose. Launching exclusively on T-Mobile Europe where it will be branded as the MDA Basic, the Touch Viva is a down market handset with a decidedly impressive spec sheet. Sporting a 2MP camera, Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, Wi-Fi, GPS, MicroSD slot, TouchFlo 2D, and an impressive 8 hours of talk time, the Touch Viva can be had for a lowly 4.95 Euro,...

Contrary to popular belief, the mighty force that is the Google empire is not exactly recession proof. The company announced yesterday that it was laying off roughly 100 employees and making some pretty significant “alterations” to its product offerings. None of the major Google services (Gmail, Google Docs, etc) were affected, but a number of minor Google products have been relegated to a virtual death row sentence. Jaiku is being shifted to the Google App Engine, which essentially means that the...

Here at BGR we’ve come to regard various “analyst” sourced speculation as, well, just that; speculation. As such, we’re not willing to put our stamp of approval on the rumor at hand just yet, though the various pieces don’t sound too far from believable. According to a Kaufman Bros. analyst, Dell could be readying a smartphone for launch within the next several weeks/months. The rumor is based on Dell’s 2007 hire of former Motorola RAZR mastermind Ron Garriques. A bit of a ...

The HTC Iolite has been bouncing around in one grainy-pic form or another for the past several weeks, but we’re finally beginning to see some clarified spec listings, not to mention some clarified device shots. The Iolite looks a lot like a modernized version of the Touch Cruise, and sports Windows Mobile 6.1, TouchFlo 3D, 512MB ROM, 288MB RAM, HSDPA/HSUPA with quad-band EDGE, Wifi, GPS, a 3.2 megapixel camera, and more, all powered by a 528MHz Qualcomm CPU. In other words, a pretty well-spec’d HT...

If the answer to the question posed in the headline is “yes” (which it certainly seems to be), the following question should be: “T-Mobile actually has business customers?” Oh, okay. According to an internal document released onto the interwebs, it looks like the big Pink is planning on freeing up a limited number of Curve 8900 devices on January 19th, a few solid weeks prior to its official February 11th drop date. The sad catch is that in order to get your grubby hands on one of the ...

There’s nothing to get your week going like the adrenaline that results from the revelation that a “couple” new Sidekicks are headed to T-Mobile sometime this year. According reputable electronics broker PCD, the world should see an unspecified number of new Sidekick handsets introduced before the end of 2009. Very little (read: nothing) in the way of details, but we hope, hope, hope that someone up at Danger/T-Mobile/Microsoft has organized a company-wide conference call to illuminate emplo...
