Nokia’s N9 handset has made a brief cameo via a one-minute, official-looking video clip. What do we learn from said video? Not a heck of a lot. What we do see is a 12-megapixel camera complete with Carl Zeiss optics flash before our eyes, and the iconography seen suggests that the device will be a Symbian offering complete with the Anna software update. The rumor mill states the N9 will be a pentaband GSM handset that could make an appearance stateside, although… since Nokia is going all-in with Windows Phone, we’re not sure what the fate of this handset is. We just received an internal Bell document detailing the carrier’s plans to release the Samsung Galaxy Tab on November 12th. It will run on “Canada’s best network” over HSPA+, be SMS-capable, and will start to be loaded into inventory lists today. No word on pre-orders or reservations, but our Canadian friends will be browsing BGR on their 7-inch tablets soon enough.

Typically, the word “shrinkage” isn’t a good thing, however… if you’re a wireless provider it could actually be a selling point. Today, Sprint announced a new program known as “Monthly Unlimited with Shrinkage” for its Boost Mobile prepaid customers. As Boost’s website explains:

Boost will lower your monthly payment by $5 for every 6 on-time payments. Monthly Unlimited with Shrinkage customers can shrink their monthly payments from $50 to as low as $35/month. BlackBerry Monthly Unlimited with Shrinkage customers can lower their monthly payments from $60 to as low as $45/month.

The idea seems pretty ingenious, trying to retain budget conscious consumers using value-based incentives. The offering is available for both new and existing customers and all that is required is an on-time payment. Hit the read link to check out the potential savings.

Dell announced on Thursday that it is adding two new colors and three new Tristan Eaton designs to its Inspiron Mini 9 and Mini 12 netbooks. The new colors include Cherry Red and the very feminine Pretty Pink. Dell also licensed the work of Tristan Eaton, avant garde toy designer, to produce three exclusive images that will adorn the outer casings of the Inspiron Minis. Eaton’s designs include “The Muse,” a blend of colorful patterns and the female form as well as “Stickers 1” and “Stickers 2,” which emulate the landscape of stickers you might see covering the bottom of a skateboard, the walls of CBGB’s or a lamppost in New York. Both “The Muse” and “Stickers 1″ will be available in two color schemes. Hit the jump for a quick look at the colorful new Minis.

Umm, are you taking pre-orders yet? At a recent press conference in Sweden, Sony Ericsson spoke of its projected plans for the not-so-distant future. In its view, high-end handsets will be quite the spec showcase when 2012 rolls around, which of course is just over three years from now. Imagine, if you will, a Sony Ericsson handset packing a 12 – 20 megapixel shooter, full HD video recording capabilities,a 1024 x 768 pixel display, a 1 GHz processor and 100+ Mbps data speeds by way of LTE. Would you like fries with that? Of course we love where SE is going with its vision but we’re not exactly sure how feasible this projection is. Unless Sony Ericsson plans to throw some intense battery research into the mix, its 2012 wonder phone is probably looking at a battery life of around 15 minutes between charges.

Hmm, that’s a pretty sweet looking pen in that pic. Is it a Mont or a… Oh sorry, we got sidetracked. You know how it is – all these netbooks coming out and well, it’s getting a tiny bit hard to care. Tiny ones are cool as long as they pack integrated cellular radios, thin ones are instantly compared with the MacBook Air with Mac-lovers scoffing and PC-lovers insisting. Anyway, Dell just announced the second addition to it’s Mini lineup, the Inspiron Mini 12. It’s not quite as mini as the Mini 9 but it’s still pretty mini, with a profile that tapers from 24 mm to 21 mm. Yup, that instantly plops it into the category of laptops and netbooks that are compared to the MacBook Air. We’re going to go ahead and skip that part if it’s ok with you – on to the spec highlights:

• 1.3GHz Atom Z520 or 1.6GHz Atom Z530
• Windows Vista Home (XP and Ubuntu options toward the end of the year)
• 12.1-inch 1280 x 800 display
• 1GB of RAM
• Hard drive: 60 GB or 80 GB

• Standard 3-cell (3 hour life) and optional 6-cell (6 hour life) battery

All in all, it’s a pretty solid offering from Dell and the exposure-factor alone should help the Mini 12 find its way into plenty of homes throughout the country this holiday season. In terms of timing, the Mini 12 will drop in Japan first before eventually finding its way to the US late in November. Pricing will start at $600.
