Well it looks like Sony Ericsson’s upcoming C905a is just as anxious to see AT&T-subscribed mobile photogs as they are to see it. In fact, it couldn’t even wait until the 19th for its official release to pop out of its retail packaging and say hi to the camera. One of our ninjas just hit us to show off one of many units currently making their way across the country just waiting to be snatched up this Sunday. A quick recap of the spec highlights:

8.1 megapixel camera with a xenon flash, auto-focus and video capture

Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, dual-band HSDPA

On-device image editing

Scratch-resistant mineral glass display

GPS

FM Radio

Bluetooth

Memory Stick Micro (M2) support up to 16GB

In less exciting news, we’re hearing AT&T has apparently crippled the handset a bit more than most would have liked — namely, it will be lacking Wi-Fi and Exchange support out of the box. For seasoned SE fans this shouldn’t pose much of a roadblock but less experienced users looking to bring the handset back to its fully functional state have some debranding research to do. Hit the jump for more shots of the phone and retail packaging.

AT&T customers, it looks like you’re in for quite a few sexy new phones over the next few months if this new report ends up panning out. Here’s what we’re looking at according to a report from the boys over at Engadget Mobile:

Nokia Piranha, March 24th – Internal codename, a “thin smartphone with a touchscreen”. If true, it will have to be the 5800 XpressMusic we imagine, but we find it highly unlikely. The other, more likely possibility: The tipster is confused and it’s the E71x which will reportedly follow at Best Buy on April 1st.

Samsung Propel Pro, March 19th

Samsung Impression, March 26th – Touchscreen slider, 3 megapixel camera

LG Xenon, April 9th

LG Neon, May 9th

Samsung “BJ 2″, May 9th – Possibly the Blackjack 3, though that codename is extremely odd considering the existence of the already-available Blackjack 2.

Sony Ericsson C905, June 9th

Well hello there! As we’ve come to expect from the folks over at the FCC, another handset has been leaked and this time around its a pretty interesting one. The sexy C905 from Sony Ericsson has made its way through the FCC, again, and this time it has a little something extra on board. That’s right people, the often elusive 850 / 1900 WCDMA bands we all wish for are present and accounted for. In other words, you can be pretty certain this 8 megapixel beast will be making its way to Big Blue sometime in the near future. Let’s recap the specs:

8.1 megapixel CMOS (3264×2448, 7.99 effective megapixels) with autofocus

Xenon flash, 3-LED videolight, focus assist lamp, self portrait mirror

Image stabilizer and face detection autofocus (up to 3 faces)

Auto Rotate

BestPic

16x digital zoom

Video recording: QVGA (320×240) @ 30fps

Dedicated camera still/record/review key

Dual Function D-Pad

Mechanical lens cover

We all know Sony Ericsson can do cameras and the C905 is its most solid camera phone offering to date. In other words, the ZN5′s reign as the dumbphone camera king among US carriers will indeed be a short-lived one. No pricing or timing is available yet but rest assured, we’ll keep you posted.

In their in-depth review, GSM Arena compares the LG KC910, the Samsung M8800 Pixon, the Sony Ericsson C905, and the Samsung INNOV8. We wont even try to cover all the details of their 7 page review in a single post. Suffice to say that each camera phone has its own strengths and weaknesses.
We told you a few weeks about an 8MP shootout between the LG KC910 “Renoir” and the Samsung M8800 Pixon, but GSMArena outdid the folks over at Mobile@Mail.Ru by doing their own 8MP shootout testing four of the hottest 8MP camera phones out there. The Samsung INNOV8 is the best universal performer with excellent image quality, capable video recording, and a large display. The Sony Ericsson C905 has the best camera interface, camera handling, and controls. The LG KC910 has a beautiful high resolution touch screen with well balanced camera features and very good image quality. Last but not least, the Samsung M8800 Pixon brings up the rear in terms of image quality and camera features, but has a well organized user interface and above-average video recording. If that piques your interest and leaves you wanting more, then hit the read link and get more one on one mobile camera action than you can stand.

Add another to the list of phones recently approved by the FCC, this time ’round it is the Sony Ericsson C905 slider . With its 8MP camera, 2.4” scratch-resistant mineral glass display, quad Band GSM, tri-band HSDPA, and Wi-Fi under the hood, this is sure to be an overpriced awesome SE Cybershot phone. Betcha cant wait to snag this one from your local SonyStyle and snap your first 8MP camera phone picture. Wonder what that picture will be?
