Today, at CeBIT, Nokia unveiled the first handset in its newly-named line of phones, the C-Series: the Nokia C5. The C5 pairs the classic Nokia candy bar form-factor with S60 3rd edition and a very modest price point — €135 ($182) unsubsidized. The phone will feature a 2.2″ display, 3.2 megapixel camera, 3.5 mm A/V connector, FM radio, 12 hours of talk time, GPS, Ovi Maps, Nokia Messaging, and microSD card slot (with support for up to a 16GB card). The C5 will be available in the second half of 2010 in Europe, Eurasia, and China. Not for everyone, but hey, for $182 it’s way better than a feature phone, in our modest opinion.

Samsung announced on Friday the latest addition to its line of candy bar feature phones. The Lucido, Italian for sleek, is the replacement for the Samsung U800 and sports many of the features of the Tocco Ultra in a slightly more subdued design. The Lucido retains the brushed metal look of the U800 and adds on the following features:

• 2.2-inch AMOLED display
• a-GPS (with built-in Google Maps)
• High-speed 7.2Mbps HSDPA connectivity
• Media player
• FM radio
• up to 8GB of storage
• 5 megapixel camera with anti-blur, face detection and smile capture

Look for this phone to hit the market sometime in April, though pricing has not yet been revealed.

HP added two new Windows Mobile handsets, the Data Messenger and Voice Messenger, to its enterprise messenger line of smartphones on Monday. The Data Messenger is a touchscreen slider while the Voice messenger is non-touchscreen candy bar with a Blackberry Pearl-style SureType keyboard. The two phones are business oriented and lack some of the high end features normally found on consumer-oriented phones. The touchscreen Data Messenger has a plain Jane touchscreen that is not multi-touch and does not support gestures. It also ships with an unmodified version of Windows Mobile Professional 6.1. No TouchWiz or TouchFlo-like interface for this baby. Both the Data Messenger and the Voice Messenger also have QVGA resolution screens which is fine for email and texting but not for multimedia or web browsing. HP does step out of box by dropping the traditional D-pad navigation and replacing it with an optical mouse pointer, similar to what is seen on many Samsung phones. They had to add something to the phone to give it just a smidgen of “coolness”. HP did not slack on connectivity either as both phones are quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) and tri-band UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA (900/1900/2100 MHz). The Data Messenger and Voice Messenger are expected to retail for €499 ($665) and €399 ($532), respectively and are expected to launch in November on Vodafone. It looks like Nokia might have two new enterprise handsets looming on the horizon. The guys over at Symbian Freak have uncovered a video (unfortunately pulled from YouTube on behalf of Nokia, but not before some screen shots were snagged!) of two new Eseries phones. The E72 basically appears to be an E71 dipped in paint (though it may have a 5 megapixel camera) while the E75 is an entirely new form factor for Nokia’s high end line. It’s a slim candy bar with a traditional 0-9 keypad beneath the screen as well as a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Not much else is known about these new phones.
