The crew over at XDA-Developers recently spotted the HTC Holiday (with a cracked screen) for sale on Craigslist. We first saw renders of the Holiday in May and the leaked images supposedly confirm a number of the phone’s specs. Bound for AT&T, the Holiday appears to be equipped with a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, a 4.5-inch 960 x 540-pixel display, 1GB of RAM, a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, an 8-megapixel camera with dual-LED flash and Android 2.3.4 (Gingerbread). It is unclear when AT&T plans to launch the Holiday but its spec sheet certainly has enough muscle to compete with Samsung’s inbound U.S. Galaxy S II handset, which will be announced during a press event on August 29th. Unfortunately, the XDA-Developers thread outing the device has already been pulled but you can hit the read link for another picture of the Holiday.

If you are not familiar with Square, it is a mobile payment service (hardware and software) that hopes to change how mobile transactions are processed. Now available for iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, and Android devices, all you need to get going and accepting credit card payments is Square’s credit card reader. If you have been down the merchant account road before, you are probably asking how much the device costs, right? Square is giving out the reader, which plugs into the 3.5mm headset jack on your smartphone, for free. Their transaction rates are also pretty competitive at 2.75% of the transaction + $0.15 for all major credit cards. If you have always wanted to pay that shady guy off of Craigslist with plastic instead of paper, your dream might finally come true as this propagates throughout the wild. Sure they’re small and a bit blurry but the images above definitely go a great distance in helping to solidifying the rumors from last night. Apparently someone tried to take advantage of all the hype surrounding the Samsung A877 reported to be making its way to AT&T on March 29th, and tried to make a quick buck on Craigslist. The listing was all kinds of messed up — it even referred to the handset as the Samsung Eternity — but the pictures do all the taking we need. The post has since been pulled so either the handset has been sold or the seller lost his nerve but either way, we’re looking forward to the 29th when AT&T will reportedly make this sexy little devil a reality.

As more and more devices become equipped with capable web browsers, it becomes increasingly interesting to learn where mobile mobile web users are spending their time. Companies spend massive amounts of time and money mobilizing websites and ensuring that their content is accessible from any device. So who’s getting a solid return? According to a recent study conducted by M:Metrics, smartphone web browsers spend the majority of time each month browsing through the pages of cragslist.org. You dirty, dirty heathens. We’d like to think that the jobs, community and other such sections are well traveled but we know better. Of the 4 hours and 38 minutes smartphone users spend each month browsing the web on average, craigslist.org sees an average of 1 hour and 39 minutes. The second most popular mobile web destination is eBay.com with an average of 1 hour and 29 minutes. Basically, smartphone users like looking at old junk – in more ways than one. Behind the two leaders are popular social networks MySpace and Facebook with 1:25 and 1:24 respectively. What all this says to us: Smartphone owners use the mobile web to check out local transvestites, buy tattered old couches and hand-sewn tea cozies, and then tell all of their friends on MySpace and Facebook about it. Are we oversimplifying?
