Maybe we lead incredibly sheltered lives, but one of the worst things we can think of is not knowing when our Android smartphone will be bumped up to the latest OS. Thankfully companies like Motorola understand people like us because it’s just updated its Android 2.1 update roadmap. Based upon what’s written there, the both the CLIQ and CLIQ XT are due for 2.1 in Q2, while AT&T customers with the BACKFLIP will have to wait until Q3 to move on up. Verizon’s DEVOUR hasn’t been given...

Good news for Motorola DEVOUR owners as Verizon is now pushing out an OTA update for the Android smartphone. First off, no, it doesn’t magically turn our Donut into a delicious Eclair. But what it (“it” being software update CALAND_X_o1.15.08P) does do is improve the overall performance and reliability of the device while stomping out a few nasty bugs. To us, that’s pretty hard to argue with. Full change log after the jump. (more…)

While we’d have greatly preferred it if Verizon sent out a press release about its Nexus One now being on sale, we guess this morning’s announcement about the immediate availability of the Motorola DEVOUR will do for now. If you think the DROID was too masculine and the DROID ERIS was a little on the lower end, then all that stands between you and the sexy aluminum slider is $149.99 after a $100 MIR on a two year agreement. One of our connects came through for us and provided launch documents for the Motorola Devour. As rumored, the Devour will launch in the indirect channel via authorized distributors on February 25th with a full launch in all channels to follow on March 15th. Unfortunately, Verizon has gotten wise to these anonymous leaks and has removed the pricing details from the launch documents but multiple sources have told us that Big Red is aiming for that sweet $99 price point. An exhaustive list of specifications and...

We knew it was coming, and now, it is here. Today, Verizon Wireless and Motorola officially announced the Motorola DEVOUR’s availability on America’s largest wireless carrier. As previously reported, this Android handset will come complete with MOTOBLUR, a 3.1″ capacitive touch screen, touch-sensitive track pad, 3G connectivity, aGPS, Bluetooth, and a micro-SD card slot. The device will fall under Verizon’s list of “advanced devices” and require a $29.99 data plan and, pres...

While much of the tech world continues the stupid debate as to whether or not the iPad is the greatest thing to happen since electricity (it’s not), Verizon has quietly been shipping promo materials for the Motorola DEVOUR to retail outlets across the country. Granted, this hasn’t come out of nowhere considering the device showed up in CelleBrites as early as two weeks ago — plus, who could remember our not once, twice, but thrice photo sessions with it — but the funny thing is that a ...

Motorola has some major plans with handset releases this year and it looks like it’s off to a timely start. We just showed you guys images of the Calgary/Devour a few weeks ago, and now it’s popping up in Verizon’s system. The camera flash washes out the line item in the image, but there’s no mistaking that for anything else. Anyone excited and digging the rather bland silver color of the device? (more…)

Motorola making a device in more than one color? You don’t say… One of our connects sent us the above photo of the Motorola Calgary / DROID Devour / Whatever, and confirmed the specifications we posted a few months back. We also received some more feedback on the device — hit the jump for the goodies! (more…)

Verizon Wireless may be turning it up a notch again and adding not one, but three new smartphones to its lineup in early 2010. The eclectic group is rumored to include the Windows Mobile-powered LG VS750, the Android-based Motorola Devour A555 and the Palm Pre Plus. The LG VS750 is LG’s first smartphone offering for Verizon Wireless. Running Windows Mobile 6.5 and with both CDMA and GSM on board for global roaming, it is sure to please all those business-oriented, world travelers in our midst. The Motor...
