It looks like we’re not the only ones excited to see a desirable Symbian handset finally land on AT&T. Amazon.com is so excited in fact, it’s basically giving the phone away. AT&T’s slender new smartphone isn’t even a day old and it can already be had for the low, low price of 1¢. Seriously, just a penny — with free activation and free shipping! Of course the deal requires a 2-year contract but for Symbian fans, two years should be perfect. If the amount of time it took the company to launch the E71x is any indication, AT&T should just be releasing the N97 by the time your new contract is up. Those of you who have been begging for the E71x ever since we first scooped it back in November have probably already pulled the trigger at AT&T’s $99 price point, but no worries. $100 is hardly a tall order for the thinnest QWERTY smartphone in the world — plus FP2 bragging rights over your unlocked E71-carrying friends.

Mmm mmm do we ever love it when carriers pick up awesome handsets at awesome prices. Today, after a mind boggling number of delays, AT&T begun selling the Nokia E71x on its website for the incredibly attractive price of $99 on a two-year contract. And while the notion of using a phone that was announced in the summer of 2008 might be unthinkable to some who are accustomed to the very latest in tech, we find it pretty hard to argue against a full-QWERTY S60 device with a 3.2 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, aGPS, Bluetooth 2.0 and HSDPA connectivity, especially when the device in question is Kate Moss thin at 10mm.

Nokia made an interesting showing at CTIA this year, opting to focus almost entirely on apps and services rather than hardware. Ovi this, share that, social this, messaging that… Fair enough. A solid portfolio of value adds and supporting services is essential for the company as it continues its efforts to make the “Internet Company” branding stick, but we’ve yet to see Nokia enter the leader phase in this space. Nope, it’s still a game of catch up for the time being so for now we’re a bit more interested in what Nokia does best — handsets. Nothing that hadn’t been previously announced made a showing at the Nokia booth this year; in fact the company’s newest handset is the E71x that we scooped way back in November. It’s finally here though and it’s cheaper than we expected which definitely isn’t a bad thing. So with that, feast your eyes on the E71x after the jump, along with its relatively new unlocked brother-in-law the E75. More on Nokia to come.

Well would you look at that — AT&T has gone ahead and announced six new handsets including the Nokia E71x, LG Neon and Xenon, Samsung Magnet, Propel Pro and Impression just days before CTIA Wireless gets underway in Las Vegas. Starting off with the biggest and baddest of the bunch, the Nokia E71x, the sexy fully-QWERTY S60 device we are sure everyone is more than familiar with now due to a series of Bold-esque delays, will be available to customers “in the coming weeks” for the amazingly cool price of $99.99. Next up on the block is the Samsung Propel Pro, a device we scooped not too long ago. Powered by Windows Mobile 6.1 and featuring a sliding full-QWERTY keypad and Wi-Fi, the Propel Pro will be available starting April 14 for $149.99. After that we have the LG Xenon, a device which captured our attention just yesterday when it was first spotted in the wild. If, of course, features a touchscreen display, sliding QWERTY keypad, 2 megapixel camera, GPS and HSDPA connectivity. Look for it April 8 for $99.99. Now on to some low-end devices. First up is the Samsung Impression with it’s 3.2″ AMOLED display and 3 megapixel camera. It will go for $199.99 come April 7.

Now we have the Samsung Magnet, a low-cost QWERTY candybar device that is aimed at all of the teens that text more than study and can’t afford something hot like a BlackBerry Bold. It has yet to be priced and no release date has been given. This brings us to the last of the new, the very unremarkable LG Neon. It has a 2 megapixel camera, sliding QWERTY keypad and, what do you know, a touch screen. It too has yet to be priced and given a release date. Samsung PropelTM Pro
The Propel Pro, a full-QWERTY silver and chrome compact slider smartphone with Windows Mobile 6.1 allows users to run full enterprise applications on the same platform they use to text and send photos.  Evolving from the popular Samsung Propel^TM, business users and consumers looking for a full-feature smartphone with Wi-Fi will look to the Propel Pro, available in April for $149.99.

Samsung Impression^TM
The nation’s first commercially available AMOLED (active-matrix organic light-emitting diode) screen results in one of the brightest and clearest displays in the U.S. and is paired with a keyboard underneath an amazingly slim, metallic blue quick messaging phone that’s all touch screen on the outside, all buttons on the inside.  On sale for $199.99, the Impression has an included 3.0 megapixel camcorder-capable camera, 3.2-inch screen and full browser to maximize every pixel of color.

LG Xenon
A quick messaging phone boasting a full keypad for text messaging beneath its vibrant colors and large touch screen display with customizable and intuitive user interface, the 3G-powered LG Xenon snaps 2.0 megapixel photos and offers the full suite of AT&T entertainment services such as AT&T Navigator, Napster Mobile, eMusic Mobile, and more.  Xenon will be available in three colors: black, blue and red for $99.99. LG Neon
Teens and text-happy adults will enjoy the LG Neon, a low-cost touch screen device available in the coming weeks. The green and white quick messaging phone features a full keyboard, 2.0 megapixel camera, and access to Instant Messaging, Mobile Email, AT&T Music, and the mobile Internet.

Samsung Magnet^TM
The Magnet is an incredibly slim orange and black bar-shaped device that will appeal to teens who need a low-cost, quick messaging phone.  The Magnet features a WAP browser and integrated camera in its sleek package and will be offered at an affordable price in the coming weeks.

All six devices can be paired with messaging bundles offering 200, 1500, and unlimited messages that cost $5, $15 and $20, respectively. Unlimited messaging is available for AT&T FamilyTalk® plan customers for all lines for $30. Data plans vary per device.

Samsung Impression and Propel Pro will arrive in AT&T stores on April 7 and 14, respectively, and the LG Xenon will go on sale on April 8. The Nokia e71x, LG Neon and Samsung Magnet will be available in the following weeks.

Did you read Friday’s news about the E71x and think to yourself, this is just too good to be true? Well, it looks like you might be right. We have good news and bad news regarding the impending arrival of Nokia’s slim smartphone — which do you want first? Ok, the bad news: It appears as though the release of AT&T’s E71 has been delayed, possibly by as many as eight weeks or even longer. We’re hearing some last minute issues arose and the unit will require a new firmware build before AT&T will release it. The specific problems are a bit unclear at this point but we’re told they relate to email/Mail for Exchange syncing. Ouch. If this info pans out, and we have no reason to doubt our ninja, this would put the release some time around late May at best. Now for the good news: Nokia is apparently pushing hard for a $149.99 price point (after $50 MIR) and it looks like it might actually happen. Woo! Ok, so the good news doesn’t exactly outweigh the bad but if the E71x hits shelves at $150 it could definitely make a splash — as long as it’s released before 2015, that is. One last note as many posted this question in the comments section of Friday’s post: the E71x will be considered a smartphone/PDA and as such, the $30 data plan will be a requirement. Look on the bright side, at least you’re not paying $45 for BES.

What’s better than a picture of a sexy black Nokia E71x headed to AT&T this month? A picture of four sexy black Nokia E71x’s headed to AT&T this month, of course. Since we scooped it like grandma’s mashed potatoes back in November, S60 fans have been clamoring for the AT&T-branded E71 and the wait is almost over. Units are currently arriving at AT&T stores across the country and one of our ninjas managed to wrangle up a flock of them fresh off the truck for a photo shoot that would make Sports Illustrated proud. In terms of release details, everything is apparently still on track for a March 24th release — as in, next Tuesday — and pricing looks to be set at $199.99 after rebate; not bad for what is undoubtedly still one of the slimmest, sexiest QWERTY smartphones around, despite its age. AT&T customers, it looks like you’re in for quite a few sexy new phones over the next few months if this new report ends up panning out. Here’s what we’re looking at according to a report from the boys over at Engadget Mobile:

• Nokia Piranha, March 24th – Internal codename, a “thin smartphone with a touchscreen”. If true, it will have to be the 5800 XpressMusic we imagine, but we find it highly unlikely. The other, more likely possibility: The tipster is confused and it’s the E71x which will reportedly follow at Best Buy on April 1st.
• Samsung Propel Pro, March 19th
• Samsung Impression, March 26th – Touchscreen slider, 3 megapixel camera
• LG Xenon, April 9th
• LG Neon, May 9th
• Samsung “BJ 2″, May 9th – Possibly the Blackjack 3, though that codename is extremely odd considering the existence of the already-available Blackjack 2.

Rumored to be a portion of a stock sheet from Best Buy a “major national retailer”, this image above is reportedly reveals the release dates of a variety of upcoming handsets. No, there’s nothing too exciting there but if the source is reliable it does indeed fill in a few question marks that have been looming — namely the E71x release date. So let’s have a look… Starting with AT&T, the document lists both the Samsung i627 “Jackfrost” and blue Samsung A767 “Propel” as becoming available on March 29th. Next up is the Nokia E71x, listed as “E71 Charcoal”, finally arriving on April 1st and the LG Xenon, which was apparently delayed so long it’s now called “Zenon”, arriving on April 10th. Moving along to Verizon, it looks like the Nokia 7205 Intrigue will hit store shelves on March 15th along with Sprint’s Palm Treo Pro which has been delayed more than a connecting flight in Atlanta. Sure, the more exciting handsets of 2009 won’t be out until the Summer months and beyond, but there are a few nice looking pieces of kit here to tide us over in the meantime.

It looks like US Nokia fans are in for a little treat once the E71x finally makes it to market via AT&T. Sure, it seems like ages since the E71 was first released and that’s because, well, it has been ages. One of the biggest complaints with the E71 however, looks to be resolved. Despite the fact that the release timing of the E71 could certainly have made it a Feature Pack 2 (FP2) candidate, Nokia opted for S60 3rd Edition FP1 instead. For the E71x however, newly-found screenshots show the FP2 Device Manager. That’s right people, no more battling with Access Points – and maybe even OTA firmware updates! Despite the fact that Nokia has pulled the E71x user manual from its site since we scooped its little faux pas last week, we still expect Nokia’s sexy little QWERTY to be announced by AT&T very soon.

We have to admit, we got a little worried when a couple of E71x handsets went up on eBay yesterday. As we mentioned, it certainly could have meant that the handset was scrapped and testers were ridding themselves of old stock. We kept our fingers crossed that it was a positive sign however; an indication that the handset would soon become available via AT&T. As it happens, a little mix up at Nokia is a very good sign that we may be just a few short days away from an official launch. The user manual for AT&T’s branded version of the E71 is now available on the Nokia USA site, dated tomorrow, and it’s chocked full of E71x images bearing the AT&T logo. There you have it S60 fans – if you’ve somehow managed to hold off on purchasing this sexy Eseries handset, a very attractive subsidized price is undoubtedly coming your way. Congrats are in order for Nokia as well as the placement of yet another S60 handset with AT&T is indeed a big deal. While the E71x certainly would have sold much better if it had found its way to AT&T a bit closer to the initial E71 release, a subsidized price between $99 – $149 or even less (speculation) should definitely help this puppy move.

Remember the Nokia E71x we scooped like soft serve back in November? You know, the AT&T-branded version of what is arguably the sexiest Finnish handset to ever have been assembled. Well guess what folks, the E71x can now be yours! That’s the good news, unfortunately the bad news is that AT&T has nothing to do with it – oh, and only one person will be able to get his or her grubby little mitts on this rare specimen. That’s right people, the E71x is getting a healthy dose of eBay treatment and now is your chance to get this slim QWERTY before anyone else does. Actually, the fact that it’s up on eBay right now most likely means that we’re very close to an official release, or the handset was scrapped and testers no longer have any use for it. We’re hoping the former is the case of course as the E71x would be an awesome addition to any carrier lineup and S60 needs all of the US carrier love it can get. The seller’s location is listed as Grand Prairie, TX which is just a stone’s throw from Nokia’s offices in Irving. We’ll give you three guesses as to where the seller got it. The auction ends in just over three and a half hours and the current bid is $275… Who’s up for a swoop-fest?

There it is people, looking sexy as ever – we can only hope that the “X” doesn’t stand for “Xtra crippled”. It looks like we’re now pretty close to seeing AT&T formally announce the E71, rebranded as the E71x, as a welcome addition to its smartphone line. The 6650 made it through the AT&T branding process relatively unscathed so we’re hoping the E71 can do the same. In terms of pricing, we’re hearing it should be in the neighborhood of $150 with a 2-year contract but that’s unconfirmed for the time being. So, S60 fans, start your drooling.
