Nokia sent out a bulk email yesterday evening alerting customers to some pretty big happenings over this coming weekend, May16th and May 17th. We can’t say that we’re as excited as we could be, but we’re still pleased nonetheless that the latest entry in Nokia’s business orientated E-Series, the E75, has begun shipping and has arrived safe and sound in some retail locations across the globe. Nokia seems to be quite proud of the E75 as it is the first of their handsets to ship with Nokia Messaging pre-installed, a service which not only includes support for Nokia’s own corporate email client, Mail for Exchange and IBM Lotus Notes Traveller but consumer email services like Yahoo! Mail, Gmail and Windows Live Hotmail. We guess it can’t hurt that the E75 has a sliding QWERTY keypad, 2.4″ display, 3.2 megapixel camera, aGPS, WiFi and quad-band EDGE/dual-band HSDPA connectivity and runs on , either.

Nokia made an interesting showing at CTIA this year, opting to focus almost entirely on apps and services rather than hardware. Ovi this, share that, social this, messaging that… Fair enough. A solid portfolio of value adds and supporting services is essential for the company as it continues its efforts to make the “Internet Company” branding stick, but we’ve yet to see Nokia enter the leader phase in this space. Nope, it’s still a game of catch up for the time being so for now we’re a bit more interested in what Nokia does best — handsets. Nothing that hadn’t been previously announced made a showing at the Nokia booth this year; in fact the company’s newest handset is the E71x that we scooped way back in November. It’s finally here though and it’s cheaper than we expected which definitely isn’t a bad thing. So with that, feast your eyes on the E71x after the jump, along with its relatively new unlocked brother-in-law the E75. More on Nokia to come.

A lot is always expected from Nokia seeing as it is still the number one handset manufacturer in the world, but this year has got to be its most stressful to date. A worldwide recession, ever increasing smartphone competition and lower prices combined with higher expectations across the board have surely been keeping the entire town of Espoo up late into the night. Sadly, the company’s day one MWC presentation wasn’t exactly what we’d call a shining example of Nokia at its finest. Beyond the E75, the highlight had to be Nokia’s official announcement of its App Store competitor, the Ovi Store, set to launch in May. Other than that, well, you tell us how the company fared. Hit up the break to see all that’s new in the world of Nokia (aside from the N86 of course).

6710 Navigator - A navigation-centric alphanumeric slider with a 5 megapixel camera, Carl Zeiss lens and dual-LED flash. The 6710 Navigator features Nokia Maps with Ovi and comes with the CR-111 car mount in the box for those glorious road trips we’ve all been forced to take at one time or another. €300 ($383 USD) in Q3.

6720 Classic - Essentially the same phone as the 6710 Navigator but in candybar form. Woo! Look for the 6720 Classic to go for €245 ($313 USD) sometime in Q2.

E55 - Features a “compact QWERTY” keypad (read: SureType) and Nokia claims it is the world’s thinnest smartphone at 9.9mm. The E55 has aGPS and Nokia Maps support, a claimed 28 days of standby and will go on sale in Western Europe this summer for €265 ($338 USD).

E75 - Finally made official after an endless procession of leaks, the E75 will be the first Nokia offering to come standard with Nokia Messaging. The S60 3rd Edition FP2-fueled E75 has a sliding full-QWERTY keypad, 3.2 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, GPS and a 2.4″ QVGA display. It officially ships next month but pre-orders are now being taken on Nokia’s website for a pretty fair €375 ($478 USD).

N97 - What can’t we say about this thing? It probably would’ve been a serious contender for the greatest phone of all time had it been released, say, last year – but its ship may have already sailed. Up for more bad news? Today we learned that despite a rumored release slated for the end of March, the N97 will be available in June. Sad, we know.

Ovi Store – All set to launch in May, the Ovi Store is where Nokia users will retreat when Apple’s mighty App Store gets them down. While the N97 is the first phone that is fully compatible with the Ovi Store, Nokia maintains that a bunch of existing S40 and S60 users will be able to hand over their money to Nokia in exchange for some Mosh, Download! and widget love. The Ovi Store supposedly caters its suggestions over time as it learns what you’re in to, something the App Store should learn to do as we’re sure you’re all tired of seeing 15 fart apps each time you look at what’s hot. Two more words for Apple that Nokia will surely peg: TRIAL VERSION.

Never mind the fact that they’re just doing it to get free publicity and a head start on pre-orders, we absolutely love it when retailers give it to the manufacturers in the junk and out the specs of their phones just days before they’re official. Expansys is no stranger to this process and has done it again with the Nokia E75. We’ve seen the E75 countless times before and while we want it for reasons we can’t really describe we’re now in a position to say that the E75 won’t suffice to stave off our hunger for the upcoming N97. Why? High cost, a tiny display and poor screen resolution will do the trick every time. If you’re an S60 nut however, chances are you’re going to love what the E75 has got:

Symbian fans around the globe have been eagerly anticipating this puppy since it was first spied in a leaked product video back in September. A complete departure from currently available Nokia handsets, the E75 is an ultra-slim dual-keypad slider with a standard 0-9 pad beneath the display and a landscape QWERTY exposed by the slide. Chrome accents, sleek rounded lines, a nice wide full keyboard – it’s all good. A quick recap of the confirmed specs:

Hot on the heels of a thoroughly-previewed 5730 XpressMusic, new images of the luscious upcoming Nokia E75 have surfaced along with some new details on its guts. It looks like Nokia might have found a new form factor du jour – the E75 is one of three unreleased handsets that feature the new slim side-sliding QWERTY design. We’re not complaining, mind you, but so far the N97 is our favorite of the bunch in terms of design. Having the 0-9 keypad is nice but we prefer more screen real estate on a side slider rather than a tinier display that sits way off center while typing. Moving along; the E75 pictured above is the Germanized version featuring a QWERTZ keyboard but the core specs that have been confirmed will apply to all versions. Confirmed items: 2.4 inch screen, 3.2 megapixel camera, HSDPA and Wi-Fi. It’s not much but it’s enough to whet your appetite for now. The timing of this leak makes us wonder if the E75 is destined for an official announcement at Mobile World Congress – Nokia would surely want to steer clear of any big Nseries news that may detract from its coming flagship N97 so it makes sense. For those of you awaiting this QWERTY-slider from Nokia, new pics of the E75 has been spotted out in the wild and leaked pics are now online. There is a decent 2.4″ screen which looks to cramp up the alphanumeric keypad a bit but a quick slide reveals a QWERTY keypad for more roomy messaging. There isn’t much new info at this point unfortunately but at least we can make out FP2 now that there’s a clear image of the display. Slim and sexy, no question – let’s hope Nokia managed to stuff a decent battery in there somehow. It might not be the prettiest Nokia prototype we’ve seen but it sure does look real. Last week we showed you a leaked promotional video showcasing two upcoming Eseries handsets, the E72 and E75. The former looks to be an E71 clone with a thick candy shell but the later is certainly attention-worthy. The E75 will be Nokia’s first handset to make use of the slide-out QWERTY form factor. So what is the next logical step after a leaked promo video? Leaked live shots of course. The front of the E75 is pretty sleek and keeps with the new look of Eseries handsets but the lighter tone on the back of this thing is kind of hideous. Let’s hope this is a very early unit and the production version will clean things up a bit. Well, it looks like Nokia hasn’t quite gotten a handle on the whole controlling leaks thing just yet. On the plus side for our Finnish pals though, it seems that whoever sent these leaked images out was dumb enough to leave the numbering on the product sticker exposed. If this is a prototype sent out to a tester, this guy is most likely in for a world of hurt. More pics after the jump.

It looks like Nokia might have two new enterprise handsets looming on the horizon. The guys over at Symbian Freak have uncovered a video (unfortunately pulled from YouTube on behalf of Nokia, but not before some screen shots were snagged!) of two new Eseries phones. The E72 basically appears to be an E71 dipped in paint (though it may have a 5 megapixel camera) while the E75 is an entirely new form factor for Nokia’s high end line. It’s a slim candy bar with a traditional 0-9 keypad beneath the screen as well as a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Not much else is known about these new phones.
