Earlier this week we reported some rumored details of the upcoming HTC Leo and today it looks like things are now getting flushed out a bit. Actually, it looks like the Leo may turn out the be the HTC Firestone we first saw back in January. While all this is still in the rumor phase of course, we can’t help but get a little giddy each and every time we see mention of Qualcomm’s 1GHz beast of a processor.So behold — the kind of, maybe, sort of, possible specs for the HTC Leo/Firestone:

HTC’s TouchFLO 3D UI manages to make Windows Mobile hip but after HTC unveiled its Sense UI for the Hero, we’re sure that more than few of the WinMo faithful were tempted to switch over to Android to get in on all of the new hotness. But to the fanboys who dare not think of committing such heresy we ask that you take a look at the image above. It’s a screenshot from TouchFLO 3D 2.5 “Manila” (which is reportedly going to debut on the Firestone) that features many welcome enhancements over its predecessors. The home screen has been changed to allow the selection of up to three application shortcuts and support for Footprints is there as well, but to be perfectly honest its the skinning of pretty much every single Settings screen that has us excited. A new image of an HTC-branded Windows Mobile handset has surfaced. The source of the image claims it is a rendering of the HTC Firestone, a handset that was included in HTC’s leaked 2009 lineup, and adds the following specifications:

• GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900, UMTS 900/2100, HSDPA
• Windows Mobile 6.5
• 3.6-inch WVGA touchscreen transflective TFT display, 65536 colors (boo)
• 600Mhz Qualcomm 8250 processor

Unfortunately, the reliability of the source is unknown and the rendering looks so “2008″ with the older arrow-emblazoned HTC logo and the glossy Touch Diamond design. The mock up is also missing the zoom bar, a key cosmetic feature seen on HTC’s 2009 Touch Diamond2 and Touch Pro2. Hopefully, this is just an old rendering and not a Photoshop job as we would love to see this handset debut later this summer.

2009 started off with a quite the bang as the entire 2009 line-up from HTC was leaked. A few of those handsets, most notably the Diamond2, Touch Pro2 and Magic have already been announced, but the rest of them have not. We have to be honest and say that a few of these handsets are standard fare for HTC, but the Firestone with it’s large touchscreen, 600MHz processor, 8 megapixel camera and WinMo 6.5 makes definitely looks like a device to watch for in the coming months.
