One of our Verizon connects just came through for us in a huge way by passing along the entire spec list for the fast approaching HTC Incredible. There’s not a whole lot for us to say with this one so we’ll let the specs do the talking, but damn can we not wait to finally get our hands on this phone.

Be honest… Who’s excited?

Big news today for iDEN fans who have been jonesing for the Opus One that we scooped and spec’d way back when in December as today it has been formally announced Motorola. Officially known as the Motorola i1, the device is the world’s first Android Push-To-Talk smartphone and it will be offered “this summer” by Sprint. While pricing is currently unknown, we do know practically everything else about the phone and its specs which include a 3.1″ HVGA display, 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus and dual-LED flash, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0 and stupidly a 2.5mm headphone jack. Running Android 1.5 with a custom UI overlay — possibly a less social version of MOTOBLUR — Motorola has also decided to replace the stock Android browser with Opera Mini 5 plus Flash Lite as well as include the amazing Swype virtual keyboard. Yay or nay, folks?

Today at Mobile World Congress, Motorola announced the CLIQ XT with MOTOBLUR. Having nearly identical specs to the original CLIQ, it features a 3.1″ HVGA capacitive display, 5 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, A-GPS, 3.5mm headphone jack, FM tuner, e-compass, 7.2Mbps HSDPA, and Android 1.5. Yeah, that probably sounds familiar. The big differences between them are that the CLIQ XT has an optical trackpad, lacks a QWERTY slider, supports Flash Lite and features “pinch and zoom” multitouch throughout the system. Besides that, than there’s really not much else to say other than we hope this isn’t all we’re going to see from Motorola because, well, talk about forgettable. The CLIQ XT with MOTOBLUR will be available from T-Mobile USA next month, while the Global version, QUENCH with MOTOBLUR, will be available in multiple regions by the end of this quarter.

You know that really fun game you play, Nokia smartphone owners, where a firmware update is released in one region and you get to sit there all angry until your product code is finally recognized and NSU allows you to update? Well apparently Adobe is familiar with that game as well because an updated version of Flash Lite for the 5800 XpressMusic has just been released. Rather than force users to wait for Nokia to finally get around to issuing a firmware update, the new Flash Lite build is available as a stand alone update. Woo! Here’s the change log according to Adobe:

• Improved Web Browsing, 91% of top 500 internet sites
• Flash 9 (AS2 only) support
• Local Connection / HTML Text / GetURL_target / CSS support / WMode
• H.264 support / Improved video support (smoothing, seek)
• Improved memory handling for images
• MP3 Streaming support
• Support for hardware acceleration – Flash Lite 3.1 supports OpenVG 1.1 to improve flash rendering performance on capable devices

Now it’s true that the update might not be available for all regions just yet, but at least we can anticipate a shorter wait than if we were waiting for new firmware. Users who can access the update are reporting much smoother in-broswer video playback so it should be worth the [hopefully brief] wait. Steve Jobs once said that Flash on the iPhone would be a bad move as it is extremely resource heavy and that Flash Lite doesn’t have what it takes to make for an enjoyable web experience. Adobe on the other hand, wasn’t all that interested in what Steve said because it was only a few months ago it signaled its intentions to bring Flash to the iPhone. The problem was Apple wasn’t involved in the process and it was highly unlikely that it would approve anything to do with Flash unless it was directly involved in the process. This week in Switzerland, Adobe’s CEO Shantanu Narayen was feeling pretty talkative and finally let the official cat out of the bag by saying that both Adobe and Apple are working together to make Flash a reality for the iPhone platform. Admitting the process of porting a reliable version of Flash to the iPhone is no easy task, Narayen was confident that having both Adobe and Apple work on the project together would be the key to success. One of the largest questions that remains is whether or not Flash will be coded into the iPhone’s firmware or if it will be a specific Flash-enabled web browser available in the App Store. The latter, however, is highly unlikely given the fact that the two companies are finally working together – you can be sure Apple won’t let Adobe steal the spotlight.
