During its press conference in San Francisco on Wednesday, Apple announced that it will continue selling the iPad 2 following the launch of its third-generation iPad tablet. The previous-generation model will see its price drop to $399 for the Wi-Fi-only version and $529 for the 3G model, and it will only be available with 16GB of memory.

Apple on Wednesday announced the release of iOS 5.1 during a press conference in San Francisco, California. Apple CEO Tim Cook stated that the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch combined to make up 76% of the company’s revenue in the fourth quarter last year. Microsoft released its fiscal fourth-quarter earnings on Thursday and noted that its revenue of $17.73 billion was greater than any other fourth quarter in the company’s history. In May BBC launched its official BBC News Android application, but unfortunately it was only available in the UK after its debut. Now Android users worldwide can download and install the application from the Android Market.
