Apple’s next-generation iPad running iOS 6.0 may have already visited a number of popular websites. While going through logs in preparation for a monthly browser report, ArsTechnica discovered 346 visits from a device with a screen resolution of 2,048 x 1,536 — matching the resolution of the display rumored to be coming to Apple’s iPad 3. A few weeks ago, we told you about a foursquare application developer that discovered traces of webOS 2.0 in their application logs. While the information would have been very hard to fake, it would have been technically feasible due to the fact that foursquare’s API is open source. Today, PreCentral is reporting that a closed-source game titled Cloud Hopper has discovered traces of webOS 2.0 in their logs, along with a device that has a screen resolution of 640 x 960; the same resolution as the iPhone...

Ruh roh. It looks like Palm may be pulling a Big Brother on Pre owners without their knowledge — until now, anyway. This morning, developer Joey Hess publicly examined a portion of webOS code that reports information back to Palm in order to determine exactly what info the manufacturer is retrieving behind the scenes.
