If phones that would make most affordable digital point and shoot cameras blush are your thing, then you might want to take a moment to familiarize yourself with LG’s upcoming GC990 Louvre. Rushing past the awesome non-camera related specs that include a 3.2-inch 16:9 touchscreen display , Wi-Fi, aGPS, DNLA, TV-out, Bluetooth, XviD and DivX playback, the Louvre packs a powerful 12.1 megapixel shooter complete with a Schneider-Kreuznach lens and touch-focus capabilities. Film speed supposedly tops out at a whopping ISO 3200 for still images while video can be recorded at resolutions up to 720p at 30 fps. Sounds killer, right? We think so, too, with our only complaint being that a phone featuring the S-Class UI should have never been named after one of the most renowned art museums in the world. As if we weren’t confused enough already with the whole Louvre/Omnia Pro situation, this morning Samsung has gone ahead and introduced two different devices with the same name at the CommunicAsia trade show. To be officially known as the Omnia Pro B7610 and Omnia Pro B7320 (for now, at least), the former is the touchscreen QWERTY slider we’ve seen a lot of over the past few days while the latter goes the full-QWERTY candy bar route. Just to make matters even more frustrating, Samsung isn’t exactly giving out much in the way of details other than the same old spiel about how the two devices are a part of its “mobile convergence plan” to “reinforce its status as a leader” in the mobile phone industry. Uh huh. Luckily it looks like the rumored specs of the B7610 were pretty accurate so at least the more desirable of the two phones is well covered.

Excited about the upcoming Samsung B7610 Louvre? Well wait just a tick, because we’ve got some interesting news to report. Yesterday Samsung slipped up and pictures of the Louvre were briefly published to its press gallery. Apparently Sammy referred to the Louvre as we know it as the Omnia Pro, a device that we have been hearing about since late April. Truth be told, we wouldn’t be all too surprised if this were the case considering all of the known specs of the Louvre match up with the rumored specs of the Omnia Pro. And speaking of the devices specs, a more detailed list has surfaced that makes the device look even more promising:

• 3.5-inch AMOLED resistive touchscreen display w/ WVGA resolution
• 800MHz processor
• 5.1 megapixel camera with auto-focus and LED flash
• Sliding QWERTY keypad
• 2 UIs (Pro & Media w/ dedicated button to switch between them)

• Divx/WMV/H.264 accelerations
• GPS/WIFI/HSDPA/HSUPA/Bluetooth

The Louvre/Omnia Pro is believed to be on track for September or October. There are some reports that the device is currently running quite slowly because of a very buggy ROM however, so rumor has it the launch might be pushed back a month.
