Citing industry sources, Taiwan Economic News reports that HTC has high hopes for its debut tablet, the HTC Flyer. Announced at Mobile World Congress last month, the HTC Flyer is an Android 2.4-powered slate with a 7-inch touchscreen display, a 1.5GHz processor, 32GB of storage, 1GB of RAM, a 5-megapixel camera rear camera and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video calling. Despite a tremendous amount of competition expected this year, HTC has reportedly placed an initial order with manufacturers for over 1 million units of its Flyer tablet. This seems like a massive first order for HTC, which is also expected to launch two more Android tablets in the first half or 2011 according to the report. Taiwan Economic News states that the 3G-enabled Flyer will retail for approximately $600 off contract, which would make it over $100 less expensive than the 32GB iPad 2 Wi-Fi + 3G model from Apple.

Thanks to several leaks, we have a pretty good beat on what Motorola’s ATRIX 4G will retail for — $150 — and now, according to some new intel, we’re starting to get an idea of what the handsets accessories could cost. According to a page posted by online wireless retailer Fommy, the ATRIX’s HD multimedia dock — complete with HDMI-out and three USB ports — will set you back a very reasonable $59.95. If earlier rumors about the ATRIX 4G’s laptop dock turn out to be true, you can get yourself a 4Gish, dual-core, super phone complete with a multimedia and laptop dock for around $360 on-contract. While that isn’t a small amount of cash, it is much cheaper than purchasing a smartphone and netbook with the associated wireless contracts separately. What do you think? So what does this mean for those who are hoping to pick up a Tour on contract from Bell? As of now we don’t have a confirmed contract price but if Bell follows its normal pricing scheme including a data plan discount, the 9630 could be in the hands of many a Canadian for about $199.95 on a three-year contract with some wiggle room for promotions and price adjustments based on project sales volumes. Not bad at all, Bell, not bad at all. Let’s just hope that it launches the Tour on or around the same time as Verizon. We’re getting antsy up here.
