Fresh off the heels of its release of OS 4.5.0.131 for the Curve 8330 and Pearl 8130, Sprint users have been hammering our inbox with reports that Sprint has finally enabled the BlackBerry users running OS 4.5 to send and receive MMS. It’s long been rumored that Sprint would enable MMS alongside the official release of OS 4.5 on its network and many people have recently been reporting that Sprint reps were dropping some major hints that a new OS was just around the corner. Think it’s too good to be true? Well then why not try it out for yourself. Hit up the read link to grab OS 4.5.0.131, load it up and then resend your service books. Believe it or not, you’ll be all set to begin firinf off some MMS to your non-smartphone using pals.

It seems that the joke that has been the roll out of BlackBerry OS 4.5 is finally nearing an end. One of the last stalwarts of the older OSes, Canadian CDMA carrier Telus, has released OS 4.5 for the 8130 Pearl and the 8330 Curve (you 8830 users have been left in the lurch). Both devices are now able to be officially upgraded to application build 4.5.0.77 which is a lot older than the 4.5.0.89 that carriers like Alltel are offering and a hell of a lot worse than what is available in the gray corners of the internet (hint: OS 4.5.0.117) but we suppose this will do for those who are too scared to upload anything but a carrier-official OS. So if you have a Telus 8130 or 8330, hit the read link to start the upgrade process.

Sure, it’s been on the BlackBerry download site for a while now, but AT&T has finally started to announce the arrival of OS 4.5 for three of its handsets: the 8820, 8320 and 8310. We’re guessing that AT&T is subtly trying to say that if you’re device isn’t covered there is a Bold with your name on it at your nearest AT&T store. That or sit tight and wait until we get our act together (tip: Delete vendor.xml and you can use any carriers OS builds on your BlackBerry so long as it’s designed for the same device).

Anyway, OS 4.5 has a heck of a lot of improvements over its predecessors so if you don’t have it you owe it to yourself to start the process here.

If you ever thought the gold BlackBerry 8320 on T-Mobile was too feminine welcome to the club, you might be in for a treat assuming you’re an AT&T subscriber. In addition to scoring the OS 4.5 release info, we also came across this bit of information surrounding the 8320 launch. It’s “targeted” for launch in the last week of September in a sapphire-blue finish. We don’t have pricing at the moment, but we can’t imagine it breaking the bank, ya know? The good news is that the BlackBerry 8320 on AT&T will indeed launch with OS 4.5, and since it has Wi-Fi, you’ll be able to enjoy one of the 17,000 AT&T hotspots. Just when you thought you couldn’t wait any longer, we go and snag an internal PowerPoint shot of some super-duper BlackBerry document. OS 4.5 is currently targeted for a mid-September launch on AT&T for the BlackBerry 8120, BlackBerry 8820, BlackBerry 8310, and BlackBerry 8300. We’ve covered the updates in the new OS, but for a quick recap, you’ve got HTML email and formatting, remote server search, free/busy calendar lookup, video recording, improved media player, and Office document editing on the devices. Like our Best Buy ninjas in blue didn’t out this one already… Oh well. It’s always nice to see some more color choices on T-Mobile, though. We were getting pretty darn tired of the gold and titanium Curves. The phone will be available starting today at all T-Mobile retail stores and over the phone for $149.99 with a 2-year agreement. We’re waiting to hear back from T-Mobile to get confirmation of the OS, but we’re betting it’s going to run 4.2.2 even though our leaked doc says any BlackBerry launches before September will run 4.5. The BlackBerry Curve 8320 in Sunset is enabled for Unlimited HotSpot Calling from T-Mobile (previously called T-Mobile HotSpot @Home) offering great mobile coverage and unlimited calling over any accessible Wi-Fi network and at all T-Mobile HotSpot locations across the country. When leaving home or a T-Mobile HotSpot, calls are seamlessly transferred onto T-Mobile’s wireless network, and the same is true for transferring calls from T-Mobile’s network onto Wi-Fi.

The BlackBerry Curve 8320 in Sunset includes a 2 megapixel camera, music and video multimedia player, a microSD expandable memory slot that supports up to 4GB of memory and stereo Bluetooth® as well as HTML Web browsing at Wi-Fi speeds, personal and corporate email and built-in spell check.

By now you all have heard that BlackBerry BIS 2.5 is rolling out to U.S. carriers on June 29th. Heck, there’s even going to be some downtime. But, maybe that isn’t enough? Maybe you’d like more information. We’ve definitely got you covered in that area. We just got a hold of this presentation outlining BIS 2.5 and all the various features. The sad part? As some of you know, all the sexy stuff requires BlackBerry OS 4.5 which according to the presentation will not be available until September. That’s not to say some of you aren’t running it already, but September guys? For reals? • You can save attachments including audio and video formats.
